New Moon DVD Local Release Parties

I just called around to our local stores to get more information about next week's New Moon DVD Release Parties. Here's what I found out:

- Target is offering a 2-Disk Deluxe Edition starting on Saturday, March 20th. Target is not offering a midnight release.

- Target is also offering a special 3-Disk Deluxe Edition plus Bonus Collectible Film Cell, but it is only available as an online pre-order (before March 20th) for $24.99.

- Blockbuster will release the new DVD at midnight on Friday, March 19th. Our local Blockbuster said they'll stay open as long as people show up. They also mentioned that last year, they played Twilight in their store after its midnight release, but they don't have any specific plans for New Moon this year. They suggest you call your local Blockbuster store to see what they have planned.

- Our local Hot Topic did not have plans for a Release Party, although they suggested I check back next Thursday, just in case. (They did have a nice New Moon Soundtrack Release Party last October, so I thought it was worth looking into.)

- Amazon is taking pre-orders for their 2-Disk Special Edition for $20.49. They offer a release day delivery option, so you can receive it on March 20th.

Walmart is offering a New Moon 2-Disk Ultimate Fan Edition with Eclipse trailer for $29.96. Some Walmarts will be holding a Release Party. Check with your local store to get details. (Note: Alma Marie doesn't support Walmart or its hiring practices.)

Borders is offering a Borders Exclusive 2-Disk with Medallion as a pre-order for $29.99.

Our local Borders is offering a Release Party, starting at 10 PM. It looks like all the Borders stores offer the same Release Party, including a special video from the New Moon stars, Twilight charades, New Moon movie quotes contest, a New Moon debate, and New Moon Awards for your favorite movie moments. You can print your ballot ahead of time or fill it out at the store. If you pre-order your New Moon DVD from Borders, you can pick it up at the Release Party. Check here for more details.

Based on the choices, I plan to attend our local Borders Release Party. But I'd like to order the Target 3-Disk Special Edition to get the extra material and the collectible film cell. Choices, choices...

What are your plans?
