Barbie Twilight Dolls (Bella, Edward, and Jacob Black) Product Review

Last week I ordered the three Barbie Twilight dolls (Bella, Edward, and Jacob Black) from Amazon.com for my daughter. Bought together, their total price was $59.47.

We received Edward and Jacob a day before Bella, so we kept them in their boxes until Bella arrived. Edward looked pretty cool in the box, but Jacob's head was angled in a strange way, which made him look weird.

Barbie Twilight dolls still in their boxes:

Cool information on the back of the boxes:

When we received Bella, she looked so pretty. We opened the boxes carefully to save the information on the back of the boxes. Each doll was well attached to the box, so we really had to work at getting them out. I actually hated cutting off the tags that held their hair down, for fear of cutting the dolls' hair.

Beautiful Barbie Bella:

As soon as I got Jacob out of his box, I re-positioned his head so he wouldn't look so strange. My daughter loved her Bella doll, and immediately pulled off the tiny string that held Bella's zipped jacket closed. My daughter had already picked out a beautiful wedding gown for Bella to marry Edward in, and she couldn't wait to put it on!

We tried to put a shirt on the Jacob doll (because he didn't have a shirt for the wedding), but Jacob' torso (muscles) were too big to fit into our Barbie/Ken clothes! So Jacob remained shirtless. Also, his upside-down wolf pack tattoo was easier to see without a shirt!

Jacob's upside-down tattoo:

Edward's shirt and coat had some tiny, detailed buttons on them. His shirt opened up a bit (held closed with a snap), but there were a few strings that held the rest of his shirt on. I didn't really want to cut Edward's shirt off, so Edward had to wear his own clothes to the wedding.

That meant only Bella could wear Barbie clothes. Bella actually looked great in Barbie clothes. Alice would be so pleased! (I really wish there were an Alice Barbie doll to complete our set.)

Another thing we noticed was the dolls' different skin tones. Jacob's skin was a lovely warm brown color. Bella's skin was a delicate light pink. Her make-up was gorgeous. Edward's skin was a translucent white with tiny golden sparkles that glitter in the sunlight. Yes, Edward does sparkle in the sunshine!

A close-up of Edward:

I noticed that Jacob has really big, flat shoes and can stand on his own if you stand him up very straight. His knees don't bend.

Bella has slip-on shoes, and she can stand on her own if you lean her forward. Her knees do bend.

Edward also has big shoes, but not as big as Jacob's! Edward's feet are bent up a bit, so he cannot stand on his own. It looks like Edward's right leg is slightly longer than his left leg. (Did Rob Pattinson say something about one of his legs being longer than the other? Is this just a coincidence? Hmm...)

All three Barbie figures come with a stand if you want to display them as collectibles. Also, all three Barbie dolls include a certificate of authenticity that you'll probably want to save. I think since we've opened their packages and played with the dolls, they are probably not worth as much as collectibles. But we've had a lot of fun with them, so we don't mind!

I recommend buying all of these dolls together if you can afford it. They make a great addition to our Twilight collection, and are lots of fun to play with.

By the way, we made a video tape of Bella and Edward's wedding. We didn't want to leave Jacob out, so Jacob married Blue Princess Barbie. It was a double wedding. If I can figure out how to upload our video, I'll post it on this blog later.

Update: Here's a link to our Twilight Barbie Bella and Edward's Wedding Video. Enjoy!

Another update: Here's a link to my review of the Twilight Barbie Victoria and Alice dolls, too.

  1. How far can Bella's knees bend? Does she have actual knee joints? I think she's so pretty :)

Does she have any other joints?

  2. @Seamstress: Yes, Bella has knee joints, so she can easily kneel. She also had joints where her legs attach, so that she can do the splits (and sit comfortably on a Barbie horse).

Unfortunately, Bella does not have elbow joints, which would have been nice.

  3. do you know why Jacobs tattoo is upside-down?

  4. I think it was just a design flaw. Mattel didn't realize they printed the tattoo upside-down until Twilight fans noticed and told them!
