Alma Marie's Review of LA Eclipse Convention (part 2)

Now that I'm back from vacation, here's part two of my review of the Los Angeles Eclipse Convention.

Note: This is a long post with lots of photos. To see them all, click the link below.

Q and A Sessions with Twilight Stars

Our first guest was Tinsel Korey (Emily). She seemed very open and friendly, and mingled with the fans often throughout the weekend. She also sang (and played guitar) beautifully at the Celebrity Concert on Saturday evening.

Kiowa Gorden (Embry Call) was up next. He took off one of his shoes and tried to appear very cool and laid back onstage. He also appeared at the Celebrity Concert with his band, Touche, the next day. (More about the Celebrity Concert later.)

Justin Chon (Eric Yorkie) and Michael Welch (Mike Newton) appeared next. They were lots of fun together. Michael Welch was very energetic and told some fun stories. He later hosted the Karaoke Concert.

The Cullen Family Panel (Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed, and Peter Facinelli) appeared the next morning.

Elizabeth Reaser (as Esme) is going to do some serious fighting in Eclipse.

Ashley wore the same shoes I wore for the Volturi Vampire Ball ("Victoria" brand from Baker's shoes.)

Hillywood Jasper finally got to meet the "real" Jasper (Jackson Rathbone.) A sweet moment.

Peter had problems with his microphone not working very well. He joked about Carlisle's super strength being "compassion", and told us what he whispered to Rob in Twilight when he bit him. On one take, Carlisle said, "I'm sorry." On another take, he said, "Be reborn, my son." And on another take, he said, "Rob, you're so sexy!" I'll have to watch Twilight again and try to figure out which take was used.

The Bad Vampires Panel (Bryce Dallas Howard and Xavier Samuel) appeared next. Bryce was very gracious about stepping into Victoria's role. She mentioned that he dad gave her some acting advice, "If you can do anything else, do that." She also has a 3-year-old son, who was freaked out when he saw his mom wearing her red contact lens (as Victoria).

Xavier mentioned that his character, Riley, "would do anything for love." Xavier also mentioned that he hadn't read the Twilight books before auditioning, but he did watch Twilight on the airplane before his audition.

Gil Birmingham (Billy Black), Christian Serratos (Angela), and Daniel Cudmore (Felix) were up next.

Christian had just finished filming a thriller, and mentioned that she still felt like she had blood in her hair (apparently, she had been murdered in the movie). Her hair, by the way, looked gorgeous.

Daniel said that his favorite character (other than himself) was Jane. Daniel's dream role would be a villain in a James Bond movie. Daniel admitted that he had studied a bit of ballet as a child, and showed us first position and a plie (coached by Hillywood Alice).

Gil was very mellow, as usual. He later sang and played guitar at the Celebrity Concert.

Next up was Booboo Stewart (Seth Clearwater) and Tyson Houseman (Quil). Booboo mentioned that he had a new song available on iTunes (Rainy Day) that he made with his sister, Fivel. Check it out on iTunes!

Tyson (who's from Edmonton, Canada) joked that he still sleeps on a Power Ranger pillow (the green one).

The Wolf Pack Panel (Alex Meraz, Julia Jones, and Chaske Spenser) were the last group before Taylor, Kristen, and Rob. You could feel the energy starting to build during their Q and A session.

This was Julia's first public appearance (she plays Leah Clearwater) and she was pretty quiet. Her favorite/theme song was No One's Gonna Love You by Band of Horses.

Alex (Paul) couldn't decide what his theme song was, until the audience started to sing, Who Let the Dogs Out? by Baha Men. Alex, when he heard that Daniel had done some ballet for the audience, also did some cool break dancing for us.

Chaske (Sam) chose Sabotage by the Beastie Boys. He also mentioned that he was not really like Sam in real life, and that he was "a man-child."

Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson were late getting to the convention.

Twi-K and I had a good view of the stage entrance, and waited as the security and paparazzi arrived and positioned themselves. Finally, I got a glimpse of Rob's profile in the doorway to the stage, and the audience started screaming and shouting. At least everyone stayed in their seats, but it was hard to hear Kristen and Rob answer the questions with all the random shouting from the audience. Taylor was much easier to hear.

Rob stated, "There's a lot of people in the world who desperately want to keep romance alive."

Taylor said the most important thing he learned was, "Stay true to yourself and not to let anything change who you are."

When asked what their favorite movies were, Rob said, "The Runaways." Kristen then said, "Remember Me." Taylor answered, "Gladiator," and "The Notebook."

Taylor was engaged and smiling most of the time. Kristen and Rob kept their heads down and mumbled a lot. I wish the sound system were better, because I missed a lot of what they said.

Their Q and A session was over much too soon. At least I got lots of (slightly grainy) photos. Enjoy!
