Twilight Halloween Costume Ideas

If you haven't picked your Halloween costume yet, here are a few Twilight-related costume ideas for you to consider...

Gothic Vampire Costume



Twi-K and I wore this Gothic Vampire Costume to the Vampire Ball at last year's Twilight Convention in San Francisco. This is a high-quality, full-length gown with lovely details like lace trim, antique silver buttons, and a tulle and lace petticoat. I thought it was very soft and comfortable to wear. This costume also includes a black velvet choker necklace with a large red jewel, but Twi-K and I preferred to wear our own necklaces instead.

You can shop around online to find a better price, but I thought it was worth the price I paid (just under $100.) You can buy this "Theatrical Quality Deluxe Gothic Vampiress Adult Costume" from Spirit for $119.99.

Gothic Vampire Costumes for Kids



This is the child's version of the Deluxe Gothic Vampira Costume . This gown costs $71.97 from HalloweenExpress.com. There is also a men's version ($159.99 from Spirit) and a boy's version ($76.46 from CostumeCraze.com) of this Gothic Vampire Costume.



If you're looking for something less expensive for a child's costume, check out this red, hooded Gothic Vampire Costume for Kids. (This costume reminds me of the St. Marcus Day Festival in Volterra in New Moon.) You can buy this costume from Spirit for $19.99.


Rosalie (from New Moon) Costume



I wore this Rosalie costume to the Vampire Ball at the Eclipse Convention in Los Angeles. It's from Bella's birthday scene in New Moon. I created this look using a classic black dress with spaghetti straps (from Overstock.com), black shoes (from Bakers), Rosalie's pendant necklace (from Hot Topic), black chandelier earrings (from Charlotte Russe), and dressy vampire makeup (the Twilight Volturi Makeup Kit from Hot Topic).

Victoria from Eclipse Costume



Twi-K wore this Victoria costume to the Vampire Ball at the Eclipse Convention in Los Angeles. It's from the scene where Victoria kisses Riley in Eclipse. Twi-K created this look using a long-sleeved black lace shirt, skinnny black pants, and black (Doc Marten?) boots. It also helped that Twi-K had long, red hair!

Wolf Pack Costume



If you prefer to dress up as a member of the wolf pack, check out my post about how to make a wolf pack mask. If you don't want to buy a wolf suit, you can make your own. First, choose the color of your wolf, then choose a long-sleeved shirt and pants to match your wolf's fur color.

Here are the fur colors of the wolf pack:

- Seth (fur colors: yellow brown, light brown, and light gray)
- Quil (fur colors: light brown and black)
- Leah (fur colors: light gray and dark gray)
- Jacob (fur colors: dark brown and light brown)
- Paul (fur colors: gray and black)
- Sam (fur color: black and dark brown)
- Embry (fur color: light gray and black)
- Jared (fur color: black and light brown)

To add a wolf tail:



If you'd like to add a wolf tail, use a ball of yarn in wolf fur colors (gray, brown, or black). Cut the yarn into about twenty 2-foot lengths. To make the tail look a bit "ragged", cut a few of the pieces of yarn a bit shorter than the other pieces.

Tie the twenty pieces of yarn at one end with a short piece of yarn. You can attach this tied end to the back of your wolf costume using a safety pin. Or you can just tuck the tied end of the tail into the back of you pants so that the tail pokes out from under your shirt.

Rosalie's Wedding Gown from Eclipse Costume

I was really hoping to see more of Rosalie's vintage wedding gown from her flashback scene when she "visited" Royce to get her revenge!



As far as I could see, Rosalie wore a white satin gown with a low, square-cut neckline (which showed off her string of pearls), puffed, long sleeves, a Juliet-style cap and veil, and dangling pearl drop earrings. Rosalie's hair was pulled under in the back and curled to frame her face.

I've also read that Rosalie had a very long train that flowed beautifully behind her gown, but I didn't see that in the movie.

I think the most striking part of Rosalie's wedding gown wasn't so much the wedding gown itself as Rosalie's glowing red vampire eyes and the expression on her face. If you are willing to wear red contact lens and would like to dress up in Rosalie's wedding gown, I bet that would be an awesome Halloween costume!

We are Back!

OK, OK, OK I know where in the world have we been. Well I could give you a long list of thing we have been up to, some good and some not so good, but I think life has calm down enough to start posting again. One thing I do want to share that I am proud of is I helped start a Soccer league for Special Need children. Now for some POSTS!

The Next Twilight?

There is an article on Aol news about this book Firelight. In the article they are saying a company has picked up this and will be making a movie. It is also saying it could be the next Twilight. I have not heard of this book. Apparently it is about dragons. The article says are dragons the new vampires. I guess I am going to have to get it and see. I will let you know what I think. Have you heard or read this book?

Finally! Victoria and Alice Barbie Dolls!

Yes! I finally bought the Eclipse Victoria and Eclipse Alice Barbie dolls from Target today!




By the way, I called our local Toys R Us store first to see if they had the new Twilight Barbies today, but they hadn't received them yet. So I visited our local Target store, and they had the Victoria doll in stock for $24.95. I had to drive to another Target to get the Alice doll (which cost $27.49!)

So here they are, fresh out of their boxes!

First Alice...



My daughter helped me remove Alice and Victoria from their boxes. She remarked that the backgrounds and trees in the boxes looked very lifelike, especially Victoria's. The tree in Victoria's box appeared to have scratches on it (possibly from a bear's claw?) Anyways, we saved the boxes as "homes" for the dolls.

My daughter noticed that Alice's necklace doesn't come off, but that Alice's shoes fall off very easily! Also, Alice's feet are very tiny, and she doesn't stand up on her own. Her knees do bend back a bit, and she can cross her legs a bit.

And here's Victoria...



My daughter loved Victoria's long hair, but mentioned that her curly locks could easily get tangled while playing with the other Barbie dolls, and that her hair would be hard to brush. I suggested she take extra care to keep Victoria's hair neat and tidy.

Victoria stands up on her own fairly well. I think Victoria looks very confident and classy. She is taller than Alice, and almost as tall as the Edward doll. Her knees bend a bit, but she is not as flexible as the Alice doll, and doesn't sit very well. Victoria's jeans go down past her toes and tuck into her boots. My daughter thought it was hard to put on the boots again (Victoria's feet seemed a bit flimsy/bendy.)

My daughter also thought that the long coat really made Victoria look like a vampire (with the black details around the edges), but without the coat, Victoria looked just like a normal girl.

By the way, my daughter held up the dolls in the sunlight to see if they sparkled like Edward. Unfortunately, they didn't sparkle at all. (I guess no one sparkles like Edward!)

Even without the sparkles, we both thought that Alice's and Victoria's skin tones and makeup were very beautiful.

Overall, we're happy to welcome Alice and Victoria to our Twilight Barbie family, and we highly recommend both dolls to any Barbie collector!

Paramore Concert!

I have a great time at the Paramore Concert last night. Haley has so much energy! She was all over the stage. The crowd was completely into it. I was a little bumbed thought. They played Decode but not I Caught Myself. It was still great!

Who is Rami Malek?

Rami Malek is the talented young actor who has been cast to play Benjamin in the movie, Breaking Dawn. Here's a bit of background information on both Rami and Benjamin:

Rami Malek
Rami Said Malek was born in Los Angeles, California on May 12, 1981, which makes him 29 years old. Rami has a twin brother, Sami. His family is of Egyptian descent. Rami received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Evansville, Indiana.

Rami has been in several television shows and movies since 2004, both comedic and dramatic. I've seen brief bits of HBO's The Pacific, and I think he's an amazing actor. I've also seen him in the Night and the Museum and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian movies, both of which I really enjoyed. Even though his part wasn't big in the latter two movies (he played the Egyptian Pharaoh, "Ahkmenrah") he made an impression and showed great comedic timing.



From what I've seen of Rami's acting skills, I think he's a great choice to play Benjamin. (It doesn't hurt that he's also cute and likable.)

Benjamin
For those of you who haven't read "Breaking Dawn" recently, Benjamin was a member of the Egyptian coven, along with Amun, his maker, Kebi, and Tia, Benjamin's mate. Benjamin and the Egyptian vampires traveled to Forks to help the Cullens battle the Volturi.

In the book "Breaking Dawn," Bella describes Benjamin as "...an oddly cheerful vampire who looked barely older than a boy and seemed both utterly confident and utterly careless at the same time." (page 609)

She also notes that "the Egyptians all looked so alike, with their midnight hair and olive-toned pallor."(page 609)

Bella observes "...it was Benjamin whom they all seemed to revolve around, as if he had some invisible magnetism the other depended upon for their balance." (page 609)

Edward tells Bella that Benjamin "...can actually influence the elements--earth, wind, water, and fire. True, physical manipulation, no illusion of the mind." (page 610)

Edward mentions that "his gift is so singular that Amun is terrified of losing him [presumably to Aro and the Volturi.]" (page 610)

Edward also confirms to Bella that he likes Benjamin. "He has a very clear sense of right and wrong. I like his attitude." (page 610)

Even though Benjamin and his coven first appear near the end of the book, I wouldn't be surprised if Benjamin (and the other vampire covens) somehow make an appearance in both Breaking Dawn movies.

It looks like it will be out just in time for Christmas. December 4th. Santa, I know what I want in my stocking!

Re-Release of Eclipse for Bella's Birthday

Together!

There has been many photos of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart together hugging, kissing, hanging out. This would lead us to believe that they are together. I do not know why but this makes me very happy. It is like the love story is kind of real. (I know I am phycho)

Vampires Don't Suck

So I took my 10 year old daughter to see it and we both thought is was pretty funny. There were a few scenes that I did not like her to see. The actress that played Becca (Bella) nailed the role right down to the lip biting. I would say it was worth seeing.

Carlisle Cullen the Worst Vampire?

Rolling Stone Mag has a list of the Best and Worst Vampires and Carlisle was #1 Worst. I guess who ever put this list together does not like good, kind hearted vampires. Edward got #10 on the best vampire list. Again he was beaten out by Damon Salvatore who got #4.

Edward Cullen lost to Vampire Diaries bad boy Damon Salvatore!?! I can not believe it! OK Twihards we are slipping. When we see contests lets get that VOTE out!!!

Twilight Eclipse Barbie dolls NEW release date

I was really looking forward to getting my new Twilight Eclipse Barbie dolls (Alice and Victoria) this week. I first saw them in the Vendors Area at the Eclipse Convention in Los Angeles back in June:



I pre-ordered both dolls from Amazon.com for $24.99 each, and they were supposed to arrive this week (August 23rd.) Unfortunately, their release dates were moved out one month (to September 23rd) so now I'll have to wait another month to get them.

When I finally do get Barbie Alice and Barbie Victoria, I'll post my reviews of them, and maybe even post a few new Barbie videos!

If anyone knows why the Barbies' release date was moved out a month, let me know! It's so hard to wait...

Nikki Reed supports "Do Something 101" campaign to donate school supplies

I was just buying school supplies for my kids at our local Staples store, when I spotted several posters around the store showing Nikki Reed supporting the Do Something 101 campaign. It's a school supply drive where you donate supplies to help students in need in your community.

It was a nice surprise to see a Twilight star participating in a campaign a mom like me can easily support.



If you happen to have school-aged kids, you might want to buy a few extra school supplies (like binders, pens, notebooks, back packs, etc.) and donate them at your local Staples store. You can drop off the school supplies at any Staples store nationwide before Saturday, September 18th. The drop-off bins are beside the cash registers.

Happy 4th Wedding Anniversary, Bella and Edward!

Today, August 13th, is Bella and Edward's Wedding Anniversary, which is exactly one month before Bella's birthday, September 13th.



Since the book, "Breaking Dawn," happens in 2006, I'll assume this is their 4th Wedding Anniversary. So, Happy 4th Wedding Anniversary, Bella and Edward!

The traditional anniversary gift for the 4th Anniversary is fruit or flowers. The modern anniversary gift for the 4th Anniversary is appliances.

Edward is a traditional guy, so I think he'd get her flowers. But not just a bunch of roses. Maybe something freesia-related? (Bella's favorite flower) Or how about rare blue diamond jewelry cut into a delicate floral pattern? Gold-dipped freesia?

Fun Ad for Twilight spoof "Vampires Suck" at the mall

I was just shopping in our local mall when I passed this funny ad on a Smart Screen (a high-tech mall display board) just outside of Old Navy. It was an ad for a Twilight spoof entitled "Vampires Suck." The movie will be in theaters starting next Wednesday, August 18th.

The byline for this movie is "Some sagas just won't die." Enjoy!

Breaking Dawn Countdown Timers
