Geocaching and Twilight

My family just got back from a vacation to the California Gold Country. We were introduced to a fun outdoor activity called "geocaching," where you use a GPS (or a phone/computer with a GPS in it) to follow clues to find containers called "caches." Apparently, people all over the world have been playing this game for about 10 years.

We signed up on the geocaching.com website to play this game, and we chose "Team TwiFam" (short for Twilight Family) for our team name.

We searched for several caches in Gold Country, and noticed that many of them had themes. So I checked out this website and found several Twilight-themed geocaches, including a really cool one in Forks, Washington. (Next time we're in Washington, we'll have to check this out!) It takes you on a tour of several Twilight locations from the book before you find the final cache. What a great idea for a Twilight tour! You can find out more about this Twilight cache by Blue Power Ranger here. You'll have to create your own account to view the specific GPS locations.

My kids have been begging me to create our own Twilight-themed geocache near our home. Perhaps we could make up a series of riddles to find a container filled with Twilight-themed goodies? I'll post more details about our geocache when we finalize them.

So, have any of you ever gone geocaching, or been lucky enough to find a Twilight-themed geocache? Let us know!
